09 // BIOREACTOR SPECIFICATIONS
The bioreactor is the manufacturing floor. Every organ, tissue block, and organism chassis produced by Cellular Foundry passes through a controlled growth environment calibrated to mammalian physiological parameters: 37°C, 5% CO2, pH 7.35–7.45, dissolved oxygen at 4–6 mg/L. Three reactor classes cover the full production range. Scaling from BRX-1 to BRX-100 is constrained primarily by oxygen mass transfer: maintaining >4 mg/L dissolved O2 across tissue constructs thicker than 200 μm requires active perfusion through engineered vascular channels, not passive diffusion. This oxygen transport limit is the fundamental scaling challenge in tissue bioreactor engineering.
| DESIGNATION | CLASS | SCALE | OUTPUT | FOOTPRINT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BRX-1 | Bioreactor-1 | Personal | 1 organ / run (48–72 hr cycle) | Desktop (0.6m × 0.4m × 0.8m) |
| BRX-7 | Bioreactor-7 | Clinical | Full organ set (heart, liver, kidneys, lungs) / 5-day cycle | Cabinet (1.2m × 0.9m × 2.1m) |
| BRX-100 | Bioreactor-100 | Industrial | 100 organs / day continuous production | Facility (floor-mounted, 200m² minimum) |
The BRX-1 targets clinical and research environments: a hospital transplant center can maintain a single BRX-1 unit and produce replacement organs on-demand from a patient's own SBC profile. The BRX-7 targets major transplant facilities and military medical centers, producing complete organ sets on a scheduled cycle for stockpile maintenance. The BRX-100 is the industrial production line: continuous flow, automated quality control, and real-time output to Fermat Logistics cold-chain transport at the loading dock.
